Our Priest

Our Very Reverend Bohdan Kalynyuk was born in Ukraine on August 13, 1962.

 

He graduated from the Seminary for Orthodox Religious Education in Chernyhiv, Ukraine in 1989. He was ordained for the priesthood also in Chernyhiv, and very appropriately, at the Cathedral named Holy Trinity.

 

Beginning in 1992, Fr. Bohdan served as priest at St. Iliynska Church in Oster, Ukraine. From 1993 to 1996, he served at St. Mary Protectress Church in the Terebowla region of Ukraine.

 

 Fr. Bohdan immigrated to America in 1996. Here he first served the congregation of St. Mary Protectress Church in New Haven, Connecticut.  In 1998, Fr. Bohdan moved to the parish of St. Nicholas Church in Troy, New York, where he served for the next four years.

 

 It was in the year 2002 that Fr. Bohdan came to our great state of Illinois. Here, he served the congregation of St. Andrew Church, in Bloomingdale for seven years. He also was named head of the Chicago Deanery, a position he still holds today. 

 

On June 3, 2009, Fr. Bohdan founded a new church, Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Bensenville, IL.

 

 Fr. Bohdan and his wife Maria have two sons, Michael and Bohdan, and a very, very large dog named Simba. They reside in Addison, IL.
